02.2 — Traditions

Can you work with our culture's traditions?

Yes, and we take the details seriously. We do Eid and Umrah Mubarak boards, mehndi draping, marigold and sequin backdrops, and we work across Auckland's communities regularly. Roqia came here as a refugee from Afghanistan, so a family wanting their own traditions done properly rather than approximated is something this studio understands from the inside.

02.3 — Craft · Made in Mount Roskill

The bits we make ourselves.

A cutter in the garage means the welcome board spells your name right, the seating chart matches it, and a last-minute change is an afternoon rather than a reorder.

Welcome boards, seating charts, acrylic and mirror signage, and decals for walls, floors and cars.

We photograph the boards where they end up rather than flat on a table, because that is the only way to tell whether the scale is right.

02.4 — How it works

How it works

  1. You send the details

Date, venue or suburb, roughly how many people, and which parts you want handled. A photo of something you like helps more than a paragraph.

  2. We quote the room

A hall, a marquee and a back garden are three different jobs, so there is no one price. The quote form shows what our own rooms cost: pick the one closest to yours, take off what you don't need, and you know roughly where it lands. The quote is for your room, itemised, and there is no obligation.

  3. We build it and strike it

We arrive early, set up, and come back to pack down. The same three people do the planning and the install.

02.5 — Questions

Questions

What areas of Auckland do you cover?

All of Auckland. We are based in Mount Roskill and travel across the city — central, east, west, south and the North Shore — to venues, halls, marquees and people's homes.

How much notice do you need?

Ask even if your date is close. We do a lot of short notice — one of our regulars booked two birthdays last-minute in a single go — so a tight date is a normal conversation here rather than a problem.

Can you do just one part, like the stage or the arch?

Yes. We style the parts you want and leave the parts you don't, and that is not a downgrade — it is how a lot of our work is booked.

Do you make the signage yourselves?

Yes — there is a cutter in the garage. Welcome boards, seating charts, acrylic and mirror signage, and decals for walls, floors and cars are all cut and finished in-house.

Do you hire out decorations on their own?

Yes, alongside the styling — Decoration X is a decoration and equipment hire business as well as a styling one. The arches, plinths, sofas, backdrops and props you can see in the gallery are ours.

02.6 — Invitation

Tell us what you're planning.

Send the date, the venue and roughly how many people. The more you tell us, the closer the quote will be. If it is short notice, say so — we do a lot of short notice.
